Fundraiser-Boot-Camp The School Of Hard Knocks
Many years ago my Fundraiser-Boot-Camp education actually did start in the very real School Of Hard Knocks inside a professional wrestling ring! Now you're wondering what on earth does pro wrestling and fundraising have in common? Money!
No doubt you've heard of Fundraising Golf Tournaments, fundraising barbeques, bingo games, car bashes, carnivals, car washes, rodeos, sports fundraisers and many other varied and obscure fundraising events. All have the same goal in common...to raise money for your Fundraising-Group. These events usually begin with a Group member making contact with someone who has done one of the events before and the next group then takes a try at that type of event. Our Wrestling Events for Lyons Clubs usually brought in a cool $30,000 for the Club.
How much your group will make with any type event depends on the motivation of the Group and the methods they use to promote their Fundraising-Event. It's not uncommon for a Sports-Event-Fundraiser to bring in several hundred thousand for the larger events promoted by well-established, experienced Groups. They had to learn the lessons at their own Fundraiser-Boot-Camp, School Of Hard Knocks.
The real key to making a lot of money for your Group depends on certain key factors. Planning an event in detail, the type of event, and the number of participating Group members all play an important role in the outcome of an event. Let's investigate a few examples.
Suppose your group decides to sell t-shirts. You do all the planning and sell to all your school and half the people in your town. Great! That took some serious effort and hard work by your Group. Since you sold a 1,000 t-shirts and made a profit of $5.00 on each one, your Group wound up with $5,000 for your effort. Not Bad! The only thing is the Group needed $10,000, so get out the tennis shoes and let's make some real money with a candy fundraiser! Finally, you've made the $10,000 you needed. The local supermarket is happy since they sold a lot of soap to wash all the new influx of t-shirts, and the Dentist is working late for all the new cavities from all that candy.
Ever feel like you needed some more comfortable tennis shoes? Selling a single item, or even two or three items gives you a "fixed" amount of money for your Groups efforts. You can only sell just so many of a product in your area, and that determines how much money your Group makes.
Your Town could only use "X" number of that fundraising product. So, now you know the sad truth...your young and vibrant Group is working really hard and living on a" fixed" income. Your Group is living in the Fundraiser-Boot-Camp, School of Hard Knocks nightmare. The Groups burning a lot of tennis shoe rubber and getting a Ho-Hum result with one, two or even three fundraising products. What can you do to improve the groups’ income results and not have to work so hard doing it? Turn on the TV and you'll see one of the secretes within a few minutes...Sponsors!
Another secrete is to use over 3 million items in your fundraiser sales. Items that all your School and Community are already buying on a daily basis. That might not be a secret anymore with all the pages in this site telling how to get a free Fundraising-Mall, but then neither is Sponsors! Most Fundraiser-Boot-Camp, School of Hard Knocks, never give you the really easy stuff.
