Needed More Than Ever
The VFW-Fundraiser will be strained to the limits very soon. VFW-Fundraising for the VFW National Home For Children, Operation Uplink, that allows hospitalized veterans to make a call home, and Veteran's Homeless programs will need even more funding as the troops return from Iraq.
Large numbers of veterans who have earned membership in Americas most prestigious group, the VFW, will need counseling, job placement, help in making ends meet from low military pay for a prolonged period and just a helping hand for the readjustment period that all veterans need after coming out of a war zone.
Being a life member of the VFW I know that the thousands of VFW Posts all over America will be there for every veteran and their family and be there for the families of those that didn't make it home. These are the people that have kept America free and they deserve all the help we can give them.
Imagine how you would feel if you had just returned from a war zone where someone was trying to kill you every day. Would your nerves be shot? Wouldn't you want to talk to someone who had been in your place before and find out how they made it through the transition back to normal life, or will life ever be normal again?
Little money and what happened to all your possessions while you were gone? Disoriented, lonely, all your friends gone...what would you do, how would you feel?
Helping veterans is what the VFW-Fundraiser is all about. VFW-Fundraising must raise a lot of money to help these brave men and women to readjust. VFW members are rarely paid for any services they do. At best a little money on gasoline for a trip to the cemetery to send a comrade off with a 21 gun salute, or a visit to a Veterans hospital or taking a veteran to a job interview. It's all about being a volunteer for a second time.
Some ways that a VFW-Fundraising-Mall could help would be a gasoline fund for veterans helping veterans, or a flag fund to replace a ragged old glory, a clothing fund for veterans that don't have anything to wear except a frayed uniform.
Come on America, let's get the VFW-Fundraiser going with some good old VFW-Fundraising spirit at the VFW-Fundraising-Mall.
